Why Getting Help Is Important

It’s never too late in life to receive help with anything. Especially your mental health. It’s important for your current and future self to get the help that you need.

For years I hid that I wasn’t okay and put off getting help. It did nothing but make things worse for me. It wasn’t until I started to receive help that I saw improvements. It wasn’t easy. It was difficult talking about what had really happened. But, it was also the most freeing feeling that I will never forget. I no longer held or carried this heavy burden that had been weighing me down for so many years. I felt like I could breathe for the first time ever and I no longer had anything to hide. It was scary and so very painful letting it out. But, it was all out there and I no longer had to hide it a second longer.

From everything that I had been through, I was able to learn and truly grasp why getting help is so important. Something that my therapist told me and still tells me to this day is, “Secrets make us sick.” That always sticks with me. I always have that in the back of my mind. It’s a constant reminder and truthfully, it helps keep me healthy.

Holding something in that is weighing on you or that has caused you trauma does nothing but hinder you. If there is a burden that you’re carrying or trauma that you’re holding onto, let this be your sign. Pick up that phone and make that appointment. Never be ashamed of getting help. Never be ashamed of doing the right thing. Never be ashamed of your story. You deserve to be free. With freedom comes peace and with peace comes healing.

Always know and remember, You Deserve Peace, You’re Not Your Diagnosis and You’re

Not Alone.
